Puntuación

The dominant freelance marketplace with genuine network effects, but the homepage tries to address clients and freelancers simultaneously and ends up making a clear promise to neither.

Problema de mayor impacto

Upwork's moat is vetting depth — work history, earnings, client feedback, and skill certifications all visible per freelancer. That quality-signal infrastructure is the reason an employer pays Upwork's fees instead of posting on a job board. The hero buries this behind generic talent-matching language indistinguishable from any staffing site.

Fundadores reales, ajustes reales
The audit gave us a clearer structure for the homepage. Helpful overall — not every suggestion fit our brand voice, but most did.

Lo que esta página hace bien

3 aciertos
Talent categories with recognizable skill labels (web dev, design, writing) let employers self-navigate immediately.
Freelancer cards showing hourly rate, job success score, and hours worked provide genuine at-a-glance vetting.
Enterprise tier with dedicated account management is clearly separated from self-serve — two buyer types get distinct paths.

Antes → problema → ajuste → por qué

Cada hallazgo cita el copy en vivo en el momento de la auditoría, identifica el problema de conversión, propone una reescritura concreta y explica por qué esa reescritura funciona contra el framework de 12 dimensiones.

Hallazgo #01claridadCrítico
Antes
(two-sided marketplace hero — split messaging addresses both clients and freelancers without committing to either)
Problema

A homepage that says "find talent" and "find work" in the same viewport forces the visitor to self-identify before absorbing any value proposition. Employers scanning for a hiring solution see freelancer-facing copy and question whether this is a job board or a vendor. Freelancers see employer-facing language and wonder if the platform actually has jobs for them.

Reescritura
Default the hero to the buyer (employer) who generates revenue: "Hire pre-vetted freelancers with verified work history. See their past projects, client ratings, and earnings — before you spend a dollar." Freelancer entry moves to a persistent secondary nav link.
Por qué funciona

Two-sided marketplaces monetize the demand side. Leading with the employer promise and letting freelancers self-route via navigation mirrors how the business actually works and eliminates the split-attention problem.

Hallazgo #02confianzaAlto impacto
Antes
(talent quality claims without visible vetting methodology or success-rate data)
Problema

Employers' number-one objection to freelance marketplaces is quality variance — "will I get someone competent or waste a week screening?" Claiming quality without showing the vetting mechanism (skill tests, portfolio review, job-success scores) above the fold leaves the objection unanswered.

Reescritura
Surface the vetting proof: "Every freelancer shows verified earnings, client ratings, and a Job Success Score. Filter by 90%+ success rate to see only proven operators."
Por qué funciona

Naming the specific quality signals (earnings, ratings, success score) and the filter threshold converts the abstract "quality talent" promise into a concrete, testable claim the employer can verify in their first search.

Hallazgo #03objecionesMedio
Antes
(service fees not disclosed until project setup or payment stage)
Problema

Both clients and freelancers suspect hidden fees on marketplace platforms. Upwork's fee structure (client service fee + freelancer sliding commission) is invisible until deep in the hiring flow. The opacity creates a trust gap at exactly the moment the visitor is evaluating cost vs. a direct hire.

Reescritura
State fees early: "Clients: flat service fee, visible before you hire. Freelancers: 10% on earnings, decreasing with long-term clients." Link to full breakdown.
Por qué funciona

Fee transparency pre-empts the "what's the real cost?" calculation that sends employers to LinkedIn and freelancers to direct outreach. Visitors who see fees and stay are pre-qualified buyers.
