63/100
Score

A category-dominant electronics retailer whose homepage competes on promotional depth rather than on the advisory expertise that differentiates it from Amazon in the buying journey.

Highest-impact issue

Best Buy's structural advantage over Amazon for electronics is expert in-store consultation, Geek Squad support, and hands-on product demos. None of this appears in the homepage hero, which looks like a deal-aggregator page rather than a trusted advisor storefront.

Real founders, real fixes
We had good traffic but weak conversions. Landing Doctors explained the problems clearly and showed us exactly what to improve. The revised structure, stronger headlines, and CTA recommendations made the page far easier to understand.…

We improved a few headlines and reorganized sections. The page feels more focused now and visitors actually read past the hero section.

What this page does well

3 strengths
Product comparison tools on category pages help electronics buyers evaluate specs side by side — a genuine utility advantage.
Store pickup availability is shown at the product-tile level, leveraging the physical footprint for same-day fulfillment.
Trade-in and recycling programs are visible in the navigation, signaling lifecycle commitment beyond the sale.

Findings (3)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01value propCritical
Was
(promotional banner hero — electronics deal grid indistinguishable from any price-comparison site)
Problem

The homepage hero is a rotating banner of weekly electronics deals. This is the same format Amazon, Newegg, and every electronics retailer uses. The expert-advice differentiator — the reason a buyer might choose Best Buy over a cheaper online option — is invisible above the fold.

Fix
Lead with the advisory angle: "The right tech, chosen with expert help. Free consultation in 1,000+ stores or online chat. Price-matched, always."
Why this works

Expert guidance is the moat Amazon cannot replicate. Leading with advisory positioning attracts the high-consideration buyer (TV, laptop, appliance) who needs confidence, not just a deal.

Finding #02trustHigh-impact
Was
(Geek Squad and price-match guarantee referenced in navigation but not in the hero)
Problem

Geek Squad is one of the most recognized service brands in electronics retail. Burying it in a nav link instead of featuring it in the hero wastes the strongest trust asset Best Buy owns. A visitor comparing prices assumes Amazon is cheaper — only the service promise justifies the Best Buy choice.

Fix
Surface in the hero: "Every purchase backed by Geek Squad. Setup, repair, and 24/7 support — included or affordable."
Why this works

Post-purchase support is the #1 anxiety for high-ticket electronics. Naming it at the hero level resolves the objection before the visitor starts comparing prices elsewhere.

Finding #03objectionsMedium
Was
(price-match policy exists but requires navigation to a help page to discover)
Problem

The most common objection to buying electronics at Best Buy is "I can find it cheaper on Amazon." The price-match guarantee neutralizes this objection entirely, but it requires the visitor to navigate to a policy page to learn about it.

Fix
Add a persistent banner: "Found it cheaper? We match Amazon, Walmart, and major retailers. Every item, every day."
Why this works

Surfacing the price-match promise on the homepage removes the price objection at the point of consideration, preventing the "let me check Amazon first" exit that kills conversions on high-ticket items.
