Score

Enterprise trust is sky-high, but the homepage tries to serve too many buyer personas simultaneously. A visitor evaluating Workers gets the same hero as one evaluating DDoS protection.

Highest-impact issue

One hero cannot sell CDN, Workers, Zero Trust, AI inference, and R2 storage at once. The page needs persona routing — or at minimum a hero that names the common thread instead of listing product lines.

Real founders, real fixes
Landing Doctors identified problems we had completely overlooked for months. Their recommendations improved not only the design but also the credibility of the entire page. After applying the fixes, our paid campaigns finally started p…

The audit was useful overall and gave us a few good ideas for improving clarity on the homepage. Some suggestions felt a bit generic, but the CTA and headline recommendations definitely helped.

What this page does well

4 strengths
Brand recognition and trust are category-leading — visitors arrive pre-sold on credibility.
Free tier across multiple products (DNS, CDN, Workers) is a genuine moat.
Performance numbers (percentage of internet traffic served) are concrete proof points.
Developer docs are best-in-class and linked prominently.

Findings (2)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01offer specificityCritical
Was
(unknown current hero — multi-product platform pattern)
Problem

Cloudflare's homepage serves as a portal for 15+ distinct products. The hero cycles through or generically covers all of them, which means no single buyer persona sees their specific problem named. A developer evaluating Workers and an IT director evaluating Zero Trust both get a diluted message. Conversion suffers from paradox of choice.

Fix
Every request, faster and safer. Pick your starting point: [Workers] [Security] [CDN] [Zero Trust]
Why this works

Acknowledges the breadth with a universal benefit (faster + safer) while immediately routing visitors to a persona-specific path. The CTA becomes a navigation aid, not a commitment device.

Finding #02clarityHigh-impact
Was
(hero cycles through product-line taglines)
Problem

Rotating hero copy forces the visitor to wait for "their" message to appear. Research shows rotating banners get <1% click-through on non-first slides. The visitor sees whatever slide was active on load — usually the wrong one for their intent.

Fix
Replace the carousel with a single static line: "The network that makes everything you build faster, safer, and more reliable."
Why this works

A static hero eliminates timing luck. One universal promise covers all personas without requiring the visitor to wait or click through slides.

About this teardown

Is this a paid hit-piece or sponsored?
No. We have no affiliation with Cloudflare and were not paid by anyone. This is independent third-party commentary based on the public landing page at audit time.
Did you contact Cloudflare before publishing?
No. These teardowns analyze public marketing pages — the same way any reviewer would analyze a published book. We use only what is publicly accessible on the live URL.
Will my own audit look like this?
Yes — same 12-dimension framework, same finding format (was → problem → fix → why). Your report is private to you and based on your live page copy.
