56/100
Score

A premium-positioned Japanese handmade marketplace that competes with minne on curation quality. The aesthetic is polished, but the page leans entirely on visual browsing with no articulation of how Creema's curation or creator standards differ from its larger rival.

See methodology →
Highest-impact issue

Creema's implicit pitch is "higher quality than minne" -- a more selective, design-forward curation. But implicit positioning does not convert. Without explicitly naming the curation standard, review process, or quality bar, the visitor sees two identical handmade marketplaces and defaults to the one with more listings.

Ralph good
Our website looked premium visually, but Landing Doctors showed us why visitors still weren't converting. Their recommendations improved clarity, trust, and flow across the entire page. The difference after implementation was immediate…

What this page does well

3 strengths
Visual presentation is consistently high-quality, reinforcing a premium brand perception.
Offline craft fairs (Creema Craft Party) bridge online discovery with in-person trust.
Category-specific collections (wedding, gifts, seasonal) match high-intent shopping moments.

Findings (3)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01value propCritical
Was
(visual-browse hero -- product photography grid without positioning or differentiator statement)
Problem

When the page is only a product grid, the visitor cannot distinguish Creema from minne, Etsy Japan, or a curated Pinterest board. The "premium handmade" positioning exists in the brand's self-image but nowhere in the page copy.

Fix
Handpicked by craft. Creema curates Japan's finest independent artisans -- selected for design quality and craftsmanship. Browse 20+ categories of original work you won't find anywhere else.
Why this works

Naming the curation standard explicitly positions Creema as the selective alternative in a market where the larger competitor (minne) wins on volume. Quality filters justify fewer listings.

Finding #02proofHigh-impact
Was
(creator count cited without selection-process context or quality benchmarks)
Problem

If Creema claims to be selective but shows a creator count without explaining the acceptance process, the selectivity claim is empty. "250,000 creators" without context sounds like "we accept everyone" -- the opposite of a premium positioning.

Fix
Frame the curation: "Every Creema creator is reviewed for originality, photo quality, and craft standards. 250,000 artisans approved from [X]00,000 applications."
Why this works

An acceptance rate transforms a volume metric into a quality signal and gives the visitor confidence that browsing Creema means browsing vetted work.

Finding #03objectionsMedium
Was
(no English-language interface or cross-border shipping context for international visitors)
Problem

Creema's audience is expanding beyond Japan, but the site offers no clear path for international buyers. A non-Japanese visitor who discovers a product via social media hits a language wall with no visible translation, international shipping, or currency conversion.

Fix
Add a cross-border entry point: "Ship worldwide. Browse in English. Prices shown in your currency." Even a single banner for detected non-JP traffic.
Why this works

Cross-border discoverability via social media means international visitors arrive without warning. A localization signal prevents immediate bounce from a high-intent referral.
