Score

A wholesale marketplace stuck between B2B and B2C with neither audience served well. Buyer protection messaging exists but gets lost in a cluttered, dated interface.

Highest-impact issue

DHgate's core advantage over AliExpress is lower per-unit pricing at small wholesale quantities (5-50 units). That wedge is never stated. A visitor comparing the two platforms sees no reason to choose DHgate when AliExpress has better UX and stronger brand trust.

Real founders, real fixes
Simple suggestions, but they made the website cleaner and easier to navigate. Sometimes the simplest changes are the ones you can't see yourself.

What this page does well

3 strengths
Buyer Protection refund policy is genuinely strong (full refund if item not as described).
Price-per-unit tiering is transparent on listings, showing volume discount breakpoints.
Direct seller messaging allows negotiation before purchase.

Findings (3)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01value propCritical
Was
(generic marketplace hero — "shop wholesale" pattern)
Problem

The homepage reads as a less-polished AliExpress with no articulated reason to exist. Without a clear positioning statement, DHgate competes on inertia alone and loses every new visitor who checks both.

Fix
State the wedge: "Wholesale prices starting at 5 units. No 500-piece minimums, no factory negotiations. Small-batch sourcing made simple."
Why this works

Naming the specific advantage (low MOQ wholesale) gives DHgate a reason to exist in the buyer's mental model and a reason to bookmark it alongside, not instead of, AliExpress.

Finding #02trustHigh-impact
Was
(buyer protection badge present but interface feels dated)
Problem

DHgate's interface design lags modern marketplace standards by several years. Dated UI creates a subconscious trust penalty: visitors assume outdated design equals outdated security and support. The buyer protection is real but the visual framing undermines it.

Fix
Modernize the trust strip: clean iconography, specific refund timelines ("refund within 7 days"), and a link to the dispute resolution dashboard with stats ("97% of disputes resolved").
Why this works

Trust is read visually before it is read textually. Modern, specific guarantee presentation converts where a badge on a dated page does not.

Finding #03form frictionMedium
Was
(registration required before contacting sellers)
Problem

Requiring account creation before a buyer can message a seller creates friction at the moment of highest intent. A dropshipper comparing three suppliers on three platforms will skip the one that demands signup before a question can be asked.

Fix
Allow guest inquiries with email-only capture. Convert to full registration after the seller responds and the conversation has value.
Why this works

Reducing the commitment required at the inquiry stage captures high-intent buyers who would otherwise leave. Registration converts better after value is delivered, not before.
