Score

The market leader in e-signatures with near-universal brand recognition. The hero now pushes an "Intelligent Agreement Management" platform vision that overcomplicates the pitch for the core buyer: someone who just needs a contract signed today.

Highest-impact issue

DocuSign owns "e-signature" in the buyer's mind. But the homepage has pivoted to selling a broad agreement-management platform — AI contract analysis, workflow automation, CLM. The visitor who Googled "sign a document online" now has to parse enterprise software messaging before finding the sign button.

Real founders, real fixes
It didn't do much. No change in before and after test. Maybe it take more time maybe it doesn't matter. But I gave it a try anyway..

What this page does well

3 strengths
Brand recognition is so strong that many visitors convert on brand trust alone.
Free trial is prominently offered without requiring a credit card.
Mobile signing experience is polished — contracts render and sign cleanly on phone screens.

Findings (3)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01clarityHigh-impact
Was
(platform-expansion hero — "intelligent agreement management" abstraction layered over the core e-signature product)
Problem

The core buyer — a real estate agent, sales rep, or small business owner — needs to send a contract for signature in the next 10 minutes. "Intelligent Agreement Management" sounds like enterprise procurement software. The hero has outgrown its largest audience.

Fix
Send a contract. Get it signed. Done in minutes — from any device, legally binding worldwide.
Why this works

Restores the original clarity that built the brand. Three short beats (send, sign, done) match the buyer's mental model. The platform story belongs below the fold for enterprise evaluators.

Finding #02CTAHigh-impact
Was
(multiple CTAs competing — "Start for free" and "Talk to sales" and product-line navigation in the hero zone)
Problem

A first-time visitor who needs a signature today sees two buttons and a product menu simultaneously. The self-serve buyer and the enterprise buyer get the same hero — neither path feels like it was designed for them.

Fix
Single primary CTA: "Send your first document free" — with "Enterprise plans" as a secondary text link.
Why this works

The highest-volume buyer (individual or small team needing a signature now) gets a frictionless entry. Enterprise buyers self-identify and click the secondary path — they don't need a primary button to find procurement.

Finding #03offer specificityMedium
Was
(free trial promoted but plan differences and signature limits unclear from the hero)
Problem

DocuSign's free tier has a monthly send limit that many users hit quickly. Not stating the limit up front creates a bait-and-switch perception when the paywall appears mid-workflow.

Fix
State it clearly: "Free plan: 5 signature requests per month. Need more? Plans from $10/month with unlimited sends."
Why this works

Transparent limits set expectations. Users who know the cap going in don't feel tricked — they plan for the upgrade, which increases paid conversion intent.
