Gamma

Independent AI landing-page teardown using our public 12-dimension framework. Apply the findings to your own page in under 30 minutes.

IndependentNot affiliated·Public methodology
54/100
Score

An AI-powered presentation builder that generates slide decks from text prompts. The output is polished enough to impress on first generation, but the page positions itself against PowerPoint when the real competitor is the user's instinct to just use ChatGPT plus a template.

See methodology →
Highest-impact issue

Gamma's actual product is a web-native document format — interactive, shareable, analytics-tracked — that replaces static PDFs and slide decks entirely. But the hero pitches "AI presentations," which sounds like a PowerPoint plugin. The format innovation is the moat; the AI generation is the hook.

Real founders, real fixes
It didn't do much. No change in before and after test. Maybe it take more time maybe it doesn't matter. But I gave it a try anyway..

I honestly expected another generic website audit, but Landing Doctors gave us clear explanations and actionable fixes. After updating the hero section and improving the offer clarity, inquiries started increasing within days.

What this page does well

3 strengths
One-prompt-to-deck generation genuinely saves hours of slide design for non-designers.
Web-native format with built-in analytics (who viewed, how long) solves the "did they read it" problem.
Templates and design system enforcement prevent the amateur-slide aesthetic that plagues AI-generated decks.

Findings (3)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01value propCritical
Was
(AI presentation maker hero — positioned as a slide-creation tool)
Problem

Framing Gamma as "AI presentations" invites a direct comparison to Canva, Beautiful.ai, and Google Slides + Gemini — all of which are adding AI generation. The unique capability (web-native interactive documents with analytics) goes unnamed in the category fight.

Fix
Documents that present themselves. Generate interactive, trackable pages from any brief — then see who viewed them and for how long. Not slides. Not PDFs. A better format.
Why this works

Positioning around the format innovation (interactive + trackable) creates a new category rather than competing in the crowded "AI slides" space where design-tool incumbents have distribution advantages.

Finding #02proofHigh-impact
Was
(AI-generated output examples without before/after time-savings context)
Problem

Showing generated decks proves the tool works but does not prove it is worth paying for. The visitor who can generate a passable deck in ChatGPT and paste it into Google Slides needs to see what Gamma adds beyond generation — and that is the analytics, interactivity, and design polish.

Fix
Show the full workflow: "Prompt to published page in 2 minutes. Your reader clicks the link, you see real-time analytics: 47 views, 3.2 min avg read time, 12 clicked the CTA."
Why this works

Demonstrating the post-generation value (analytics, interactivity, distribution) justifies the paid tier in a way raw output quality cannot, because output quality is approaching commodity.

Finding #03urgencyMedium
Was
(generous free tier without clear upgrade trigger or usage boundary)
Problem

If the free tier is generous enough for most use cases, there is no natural moment to upgrade. The visitor generates decks for free indefinitely and never encounters a reason to pay — which means the product is leaving conversion to chance rather than design.

Fix
Define the upgrade trigger: "Free: unlimited personal pages. Pro: custom branding, viewer analytics, password protection, team workspace. Your first 3 Pro features are free to try."
Why this works

Naming the features locked behind Pro ensures that free users who need branding or analytics encounter the upgrade prompt at the moment of need, not at an arbitrary usage cap.
