The dominant employer-review platform with a unique data moat — salary reports and anonymous reviews. The data is genuinely valuable, but the homepage tries to be a job board instead of leaning into the intelligence layer that makes Glassdoor irreplaceable.

Highest-impact issue

Glassdoor's moat is not job listings — Indeed and LinkedIn have more. The moat is insider intelligence: anonymous reviews, salary reports, interview questions, and CEO approval ratings that no other platform aggregates at scale. The hero should sell "know what it's really like before you apply" — not "search for jobs."

Real founders, real fixes
It gave a very thorough audit, and I made the recommended changes, so we'll see how they work out. My only complaint is the price. $49 bucks per page audit adds up quickly. Might I suggest a membership site where you charge a monthly f…

We improved a few headlines and reorganized sections. The page feels more focused now and visitors actually read past the hero section.

What this page does well

3 strengths
Anonymous review data is a genuine, defensible moat — no competitor has equivalent depth.
Salary transparency tools help candidates negotiate from an informed position.
Company comparison features let job seekers evaluate culture, compensation, and leadership side by side.

Findings (3)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01value propCritical
Was
(job-search-first hero that buries the review/salary intelligence layer)
Problem

Leading with a job search bar positions Glassdoor as an Indeed competitor — a fight it loses on listing volume. The unique value (insider reviews, salary data, interview prep) is secondary on the page, which means visitors who want job listings go to Indeed and visitors who want company intelligence don't realize Glassdoor offers it until they scroll.

Fix
Know the salary, the culture, and the interview before you apply. Search any company — see what employees actually say.
Why this works

Leads with the intelligence layer (salary, culture, interview prep) that no job board replicates. Positions Glassdoor as a research tool, not a search tool — the category where it has no real competitor.

Finding #02trustHigh-impact
Was
(review authenticity unaddressed — no visible moderation or verification process)
Problem

Anonymous reviews invite skepticism from both sides: job seekers wonder if reviews are fake (planted by disgruntled ex-employees), and employers suspect manipulation. Without visible moderation methodology, the data that makes Glassdoor valuable is also its biggest trust liability.

Fix
Surface the integrity process: "Every review verified by email employer match. AI fraud detection flags suspicious patterns. Community guidelines enforced — see our moderation methodology."
Why this works

Naming the verification process (email match, AI detection, guidelines) converts skeptics who want to trust the data but need reassurance. Unaddressed authenticity concerns send sophisticated users to blind (Teamblind) or direct networking.

Finding #03objectionsMedium
Was
(give-to-get wall — users must submit a review to access full content)
Problem

The give-to-get model (write a review to read reviews) drives data contribution but creates immediate friction for first-time visitors. A job seeker who just wants to check salary data before an interview hits a wall that feels punitive. The model's value exchange is real but poorly communicated — it reads as a paywall, not a community contribution.

Fix
Reframe the gate: "Contribute your experience to help others — share one anonymous review and unlock unlimited access to salaries, reviews, and interview questions from your industry."
Why this works

Framing the requirement as community contribution rather than an access gate changes the emotional response from "I'm being extorted for my data" to "I'm helping others while helping myself." Same mechanic, different framing.
