77/100
Score

The simplest creator commerce page in the category. Gumroad's minimalism is a strength, but the hero trades specificity for brevity — one line too few.

Highest-impact issue

The hero is so minimal it skips the "who is this for" signal entirely. Creators selling $5 PDFs and creators selling $500 course bundles both land here and neither sees themselves reflected.

Real founders, real fixes
Our website looked premium visually, but Landing Doctors showed us why visitors still weren't converting. Their recommendations improved clarity, trust, and flow across the entire page. The difference after implementation was immediate…

What this page does well

4 strengths
Radical simplicity: the page loads fast, the CTA is immediate, and there is almost no friction to first sale.
Transparent flat-fee pricing visible without scrolling — no tier confusion.
Product type diversity (PDFs, music, software, courses) is shown via real creator examples.
Brand trust is strong among indie creators — the name itself is a signal.

Findings (2)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01clarityMedium
Was
(unknown current hero — generic creator-platform pattern)
Problem

Minimalism works when every word earns its place. The current hero is brief but generic — it could describe Patreon, Ko-fi, or Lemon Squeezy. Brevity without specificity is just vagueness.

Fix
Sell anything you make — PDFs, courses, software, music. One link, instant checkout.
Why this works

Keeps Gumroad's trademark brevity but adds product-type specificity (PDFs, courses, software, music) and the experience differentiator (one link, instant checkout). Visitors see their product type in the hero and stay.

Finding #02offer specificityHigh-impact
Was
(flat fee mentioned but not contrasted against competitor percentage-based pricing)
Problem

Gumroad's flat 10% fee is either a strength or a weakness depending on volume. For small creators it's simple; for $50K/year sellers it's expensive. The hero doesn't help either segment self-select.

Fix
Add a one-liner: "10% flat fee. No monthly costs, no hidden charges. You pay when you earn."
Why this works

Makes the fee structure the value prop for the primary audience (small creators who fear monthly SaaS bills). High-volume creators will do the math anyway — the hero should convert the majority.
