60/100
Score

The most recognized name in online company formation with strong brand trust for first-time founders. The homepage tries to serve LLC formation, trademarks, wills, and ongoing compliance equally — diluting the hero for the highest-intent visitor: someone forming an LLC today.

See methodology →
Highest-impact issue

LegalZoom's #1 traffic source is "form an LLC." That visitor needs to see three things in 5 seconds: the price, the timeline, and what's included. Instead, the hero pitches a broad legal-services marketplace that makes LLC formation look like one of a dozen options.

Real founders, real fixes
The audit was useful overall and gave us a few good ideas for improving clarity on the homepage. Some suggestions felt a bit generic, but the CTA and headline recommendations definitely helped.

Not everything applied to our business, but several recommendations were genuinely helpful. Would have liked more fitness-specific examples.

What this page does well

3 strengths
Brand trust for first-time founders is genuinely high — the name itself signals legitimacy.
Step-by-step formation flow is well-designed once the visitor finds the right product page.
Registered agent service bundled with formation packages reduces a compliance step founders forget.

Findings (3)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01value propCritical
Was
(legal-services marketplace hero — "start, run, and grow your business" umbrella covering formation, trademarks, wills, and compliance)
Problem

The highest-intent, highest-volume visitor is forming an LLC. Pitching a broad legal marketplace forces that visitor to navigate to the LLC page before seeing a price or timeline. Every extra click between the search result and the formation flow loses conversions.

Fix
Form your LLC today. State filing + registered agent included — from $0 plus state fees. Ready in as fast as 2 business days.
Why this works

Names the product (LLC), the price anchor ($0 + state fees), the timeline (2 days), and the bundled value (registered agent). The highest-intent visitor converts from the hero without navigating.

Finding #02trustHigh-impact
Was
(formation count cited as a large number without recency or success-rate context)
Problem

Saying "millions of formations" spans 20+ years of company history. The number is impressive but stale — it doesn't tell the visitor whether LegalZoom is still the right choice in 2026 when competitors like ZenBusiness and Incfile offer lower prices.

Fix
Add recency and specificity: "400,000+ businesses formed in the last 12 months. 4.5/5 from 50,000+ Trustpilot reviews."
Why this works

Recent volume signals that founders are still choosing LegalZoom despite cheaper alternatives. The third-party review link makes the claim verifiable.

Finding #03objectionsMedium
Was
(upsell packages visible early but base-price breakdown unclear)
Problem

LegalZoom's pricing tiers include substantial upsells (expedited filing, EIN, operating agreement). When the base package feels intentionally stripped, first-time founders suspect they're being funneled into expensive add-ons — even when the base package is sufficient.

Fix
Clarify what the base includes: "Free package: articles of incorporation, name check, digital storage. Everything you need to be legally formed. Optional add-ons available."
Why this works

Naming what's included in the free tier removes the "what's the catch?" anxiety. Visitors who feel informed about the base convert at higher rates on add-ons because trust is intact.
