Score

The tool that defined modern work chat, now struggling to differentiate under Salesforce ownership. The hero pushes an AI productivity platform positioning that every competitor also claims — losing the original "where work happens" channel-based clarity.

Highest-impact issue

Slack's moat was channel-based communication that replaced email for internal teams. The current hero has abandoned that concrete, experiential positioning in favor of generic AI-productivity messaging that Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, and every new entrant also claim. The visitor can no longer tell, in 5 seconds, what makes Slack different from Teams — which is bundled free with Office 365.

Thanks, it helped me, although for a long time I couldn't bring myself to apply the changes on the site.

What this page does well

3 strengths
Integration ecosystem (2,600+ apps) is genuinely deeper than any competitor — Slack as a workflow hub is defensible.
Channel-based organization, once experienced, creates strong switching costs — users who know Slack resist moving.
Huddles (lightweight audio calls from any channel) solve a real micro-meeting need that competitors handle clumsily.

Findings (3)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01value propCritical
Was
(AI-productivity hero — "AI-powered work platform" pattern identical to every competitor's 2026 messaging)
Problem

When Slack, Teams, Google Chat, and Webex all say "AI-powered work platform," the phrase is noise. Slack's actual differentiator — channels that replace email threads with structured, searchable conversations — goes unnamed. The one thing that made Slack Slack is invisible in the hero.

Fix
Channels replace email threads. Every conversation searchable, every decision findable — without digging through your inbox.
Why this works

Restores the experiential positioning that built the brand (channels > email) and names the outcome (searchable, findable). Differentiates from Teams and Chat, which are message-first, not channel-first.

Finding #02objectionsHigh-impact
Was
(no acknowledgment of the "Teams is free with Office" objection anywhere above the fold)
Problem

The #1 reason teams don't adopt Slack is that Microsoft Teams comes bundled with the Office 365 subscription they already pay for. Ignoring this objection above the fold means every evaluator asks the question and answers it themselves — usually in Microsoft's favor.

Fix
Add a comparison anchor: "Teams is bundled. Slack is chosen. 750,000+ organizations pay for Slack because the integrations, search, and workflow automation save more than the subscription costs."
Why this works

Acknowledging the free-competitor objection directly reframes the conversation from cost to value. The "pay for" framing turns the subscription into a signal of quality — you don't pay for something that doesn't deliver.

Finding #03urgencyMedium
Was
(evergreen hero with no reason to start today versus next quarter)
Problem

Slack's hero gives no reason to switch from the current tool this week. Without a forcing function — a cost calculation, a productivity stat, a time-to-value claim — the evaluator bookmarks and never returns.

Fix
Add a dynamic proof: "Teams that switch to Slack send 32% fewer emails in their first month. Start free — your first workspace is ready in 60 seconds."
Why this works

A quantified outcome (fewer emails) creates desire; a time-to-value claim (60 seconds) removes friction. Together they convert "maybe later" into "let me try it now."
