Score

The original landing-page builder that defined the category, now struggling to differentiate as every website builder added landing-page features. The AI pivot adds capability but blurs the core identity that built the brand.

Highest-impact issue

Unbounce invented the no-code landing page for marketers. That category-creator authority is an extraordinary brand asset — but the hero has pivoted to "AI-powered landing pages" which every Wix, Squarespace, and WordPress plugin now also claims. The original differentiation (marketer-built pages without developers, with built-in A/B testing) is the story that still resonates; the AI wrapper dilutes it.

Real founders, real fixes
We had good traffic but weak conversions. Landing Doctors explained the problems clearly and showed us exactly what to improve. The revised structure, stronger headlines, and CTA recommendations made the page far easier to understand.…

Small changes, but the website feels more trustworthy now. The trust-signal section they suggested adding really helps with first-time visitors.

What this page does well

3 strengths
Built-in A/B testing and Smart Traffic routing are genuinely integrated — not bolted-on afterthoughts like competitor offerings.
Template library specifically designed for paid-traffic landing pages addresses the exact use case marketers hire the tool for.
Drag-and-drop builder with no-code flexibility still serves the core audience: marketers who cannot write HTML.

Findings (3)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01clarityCritical
Was
(AI-forward hero messaging that deprioritizes the core landing-page-builder identity)
Problem

A marketer searching "landing page builder" arrives at a hero that leads with AI capabilities instead of confirming the category. The AI pivot creates identity confusion: is Unbounce an AI writing tool, a page builder, or both? When the core job-to-be-done (build a high-converting landing page without a developer) is not the first sentence, the visitor second-guesses whether this tool does what they need.

Fix
Build landing pages that convert — no developer, no code, no guessing. Drag-and-drop builder with built-in A/B testing and AI-powered copy suggestions.
Why this works

Leads with the job (build converting pages), names the constraints removed (no dev, no code), and layers AI as a feature rather than the identity. The visitor confirms category fit in 3 seconds.

Finding #02trustHigh-impact
Was
(category-creator legacy not leveraged in the hero or trust section)
Problem

Unbounce has been the dedicated landing-page platform since 2009. That 17-year track record is a powerful trust signal against newer tools — but the page does not surface it. A visitor comparing Unbounce to Leadpages, Instapage, or Carrd has no reason to trust Unbounce more without the longevity anchor.

Fix
Surface heritage: "The landing page platform since 2009. 15 billion conversions tracked. Trusted by 120,000+ brands."
Why this works

Longevity proof (since 2009) + scale proof (15B conversions) + adoption proof (120K brands) build a trust case that no 3-year-old competitor can match. Legacy brands underperform when they hide their history.

Finding #03objectionsMedium
Was
(pricing starting at $74/mo without differentiation from free page-builder alternatives)
Problem

Wix, Carrd, and WordPress page builders offer landing-page templates for free or near-free. At $74-200/mo, Unbounce must justify the premium — but the hero does not explain what the paid tool provides that free alternatives lack (A/B testing, Smart Traffic, conversion-focused templates, no branding).

Fix
Name the gap: "Free builders make pages. Unbounce makes pages that convert — with A/B testing, smart traffic routing, and zero third-party branding on your domain."
Why this works

Directly naming what free alternatives lack (testing, routing, clean branding) reframes the price as the cost of conversion infrastructure rather than a page-building tax.
