65/100
Score

The open-source e-commerce platform with the largest WordPress install base. Positioning defaults to "flexible and free" without ever naming who it beats and why.

See methodology →
Highest-impact issue

WooCommerce's visitor is choosing between Shopify (easy, expensive, locked-in) and Woo (owns-everything, flexible, more setup). That comparison is the entire decision framework, but the page never makes it. Woo argues with itself about features instead of arguing against Shopify on ownership and cost.

Real founders, real fixes
The report was short and practical. The CTA advice was probably the most useful part — rewrote the button copy and inquiries went up the same week.

The homepage became much easier to read after applying the suggestions. Cleaner hero, fewer competing CTAs, sharper value prop.

What this page does well

3 strengths
Open-source credibility and WordPress ecosystem familiarity are genuine trust signals for developers.
Extension marketplace communicates breadth of capability.
Free core product removes financial risk from getting started.

Findings (3)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01value propCritical
Was
(feature-list hero — "the flexible e-commerce platform" pattern)
Problem

Calling yourself "flexible" and "customizable" is what every platform says. WooCommerce's actual wedge is ownership: you own the code, the data, the store. No monthly platform fee that scales with revenue. No lock-in. That argument is absent from the hero.

Fix
Your store, your data, your rules. No revenue share. No platform lock-in. The open-source e-commerce platform that grows with you, not against you.
Why this works

Framing the value as ownership-and-freedom directly addresses the #1 frustration of Shopify merchants (fees that grow with revenue) and gives WooCommerce a competitive wedge instead of generic feature claims.

Finding #02objectionsHigh-impact
Was
(setup complexity unaddressed — no "how hard is this" reassurance)
Problem

The #1 reason someone chooses Shopify over Woo is perceived difficulty. "I don't want to deal with hosting and plugins." WooCommerce's page never acknowledges or counters this objection, letting Shopify's "start selling in minutes" pitch win by default.

Fix
Address it head-on near the CTA: "Live store in under an hour. Managed hosting from $9/mo handles the tech. You handle the selling."
Why this works

Directly naming and neutralizing the setup-complexity objection stops fence-sitters from defaulting to the "easier" choice without evaluating the trade-offs.

Finding #03proofMedium
Was
(install count / market share mentioned without concrete success stories)
Problem

WooCommerce powers millions of stores, but abstract scale numbers don't convert a nervous first-time store builder. "4 million stores" is impressive but impersonal. The builder wants to see someone like them who succeeded.

Fix
Replace the install counter with 2-3 concrete case studies at the hero level: real store names, revenue ranges, and a quote about why they chose Woo over alternatives.
Why this works

Specific success stories from relatable founders convert better than aggregate statistics because they let the visitor see themselves in the outcome.
