Score

The most recognized name in video meetings, now trying to reposition as an "AI-first work platform" covering meetings, phone, chat, email, docs, and whiteboard. The pivot buries the original value and confuses the core buyer who just needs reliable video calls.

Highest-impact issue

Zoom's brand equity is "video meetings that work." The current hero pushes an AI-powered platform suite that competes with Microsoft Teams and Google Workspace on breadth — a fight Zoom cannot win on distribution. The original clarity ("just works") is lost in platform ambition.

Landing Doctors pointed out a few issues we had overlooked, especially around messaging structure. Not every recommendation fit our brand, but the report was still helpful and easy to apply.

What this page does well

3 strengths
Brand recognition for video meetings is unmatched — "let's Zoom" is a verb.
Meeting join flow remains the fastest in the category — one click, no downloads required.
Free tier (40-minute meetings, 100 participants) is still the most generous entry point.

Findings (3)

Was → problem → fix → why

Each finding cites the live copy at audit time, names the conversion problem, proposes a specific rewrite, and explains why the rewrite works against the 12-dimension framework.

Finding #01clarityCritical
Was
(platform-pivot hero — "AI-first work platform" abstraction replacing the original video-meeting clarity)
Problem

Rebranding from "video meetings" to "AI-first work platform" swaps a category Zoom owns for a category owned by Microsoft and Google. A small business owner who needs to host a client call doesn't think in "AI-first work platforms" — they think "I need a meeting link that won't embarrass me."

Fix
Video meetings that just work. Now with AI notes, phone, and team chat — all in one app.
Why this works

Leads with the brand equity (video meetings that work), then layers the new capabilities as additions rather than replacements. The core buyer feels served; the platform expansion follows naturally.

Finding #02offer specificityHigh-impact
Was
(product suite presented — meetings, phone, chat, email, docs, whiteboard, AI companion — without clear bundling or entry path)
Problem

Seven products in one hero creates a "which one do I buy?" paralysis. A visitor who needs phone + meetings doesn't know if they need Zoom Workplace, Zoom Business, or Zoom One — and the homepage doesn't clarify.

Fix
Simplify the entry: "Start free with meetings. Add phone, chat, or AI notes when you need them — one subscription, one app."
Why this works

Names the free starting point (meetings) and frames everything else as add-ons. The visitor understands the expansion path before they see the pricing page.

Finding #03social proofMedium
Was
(pandemic-era adoption figures cited without current engagement or retention context)
Problem

Zoom's pandemic-era user counts are historic, but the relevant question in 2026 is: are teams still choosing Zoom over Teams and Meet? Without current retention or growth signals, the large numbers feel like a peak-era artifact.

Fix
Add a present-tense proof line: "3.3 trillion meeting minutes hosted. Still growing — 300M+ daily meeting participants."
Why this works

A present-tense daily figure signals ongoing relevance. "Still growing" directly addresses the unspoken objection: "didn't everyone switch to Teams?"
