WHY GENERIC ADVICE FAILS

Ecommerce pages live and die on micro-friction

Generic CRO checklists tell you to add reviews and trust badges. Ecommerce buyers are quicker than that. They make a yes-or-no decision in the first scroll based on the hero image, the price, the delivery promise, and whether they trust your brand to refund them. If any one of those four is weak, no amount of testimonial widgets recovers the cart. Most audit tools score the page in isolation; ecommerce pages have to be scored against the moment of purchase intent.

Landing Doctor checks whether your product hero communicates the use, the scale, and the differentiator at a glance. We grade your price presentation: is the discount anchored, is the per-unit price legible, is shipping cost visible before checkout? We score your trust strip against ecommerce-specific signals — return policy, shipping speed, payment methods, review count visibility — and call out exactly which element on your page is creating the hesitation.

COMMON ECOMMERCE LEAKS

Where ecommerce pages lose buyers mid-scroll

01

Hero image doesn't show the product in use

A pack-shot on white tells the buyer what it is, not what it does for them. We flag whether your hero shows scale, use case, or context — and whether the alt text and lazy-load setup are killing your above-fold render time on mobile.

02

Price block hides shipping until checkout

If your buyer can't see total cost (item + shipping + tax) before they click Add to Cart, you're optimizing for cart-abandonment. We flag whether shipping cost or "free shipping over $X" is visible at the price line, not buried in the footer.

03

Trust strip is generic, not category-specific

"Secure checkout" badges from 2014 don't move ecommerce buyers in 2026. Category-relevant trust signals do: verified review counts, return-window length, ships-from country, materials sourcing. We score whether your trust signals match what your category actually fears.

04

Add-to-cart CTA loses to the wishlist heart

Visual hierarchy on product pages often gives the secondary action (wishlist, save, share) the same weight as Add to Cart. We grade your CTA against the surrounding clutter and flag any element competing for the click.

ECOMMERCE-SPECIFIC ANSWERS

Ecommerce audit FAQ

Does this work for product pages and category pages, or just homepages?

All three. Landing Doctor detects page type and scores against the right pattern. Product pages get graded on hero, price, shipping clarity, review density, and add-to-cart hierarchy. Category pages get graded on filter clarity, sort logic, and grid scannability. Homepages get graded on segment match and the path to category. You can run separate audits per template — most stores audit their hero product first, then their bestseller category.

Can it audit a Shopify, WooCommerce, or BigCommerce page?

Yes — the audit reads the rendered HTML, not the platform. Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, custom stacks, headless setups all work as long as the page is publicly fetchable. We have a dedicated Shopify-focused audit page for stores that want patterns specific to Shopify themes (Dawn, Impact, custom Liquid sections), but the generic ecommerce audit covers any store.

Will the audit catch issues with my mobile checkout flow?

The audit reads your landing page and grades mobile-specific patterns — viewport meta, tap-target sizing, sticky CTA visibility, image weight, and form-field type for mobile keyboards. We don't simulate the full checkout flow (that requires interaction), but we do flag pre-checkout friction: hidden shipping cost, missing express-pay buttons, tiny price text, and any form on the landing page itself.

Can I audit during a sale to see what's leaking?

Yes — many stores run an audit mid-campaign to find what's underperforming. The audit grades urgency mechanics specifically: is your countdown visible, is the discount anchored to a real strikethrough, does your scarcity language match your inventory level. If you're losing carts during a flash sale, the audit usually points to a specific element — often the price block or the shipping line — within the first scroll.
