SHOPIFY-AWARE GRADING

Theme defaults aren't a conversion strategy

Most Shopify stores ship the theme as-is and assume conversion is a traffic problem. It often isn't. Default Dawn product pages render a clean hero, a variant picker, and a paragraph of description — which works for an established brand but bleeds buyers for a new one. Generic CRO advice doesn't tell you which Liquid section to rebuild first; it tells you to A/B test, which costs traffic you don't have. The real question on a Shopify product page is whether the variant picker, the price block, and the meta-fields are doing the persuasive work the theme can't.

Landing Doctor reads your rendered Shopify page and grades it against patterns common to high-converting product pages — including hero crop, variant-state UX, swatch clarity, badge placement, review-widget integration, and the visual weight of Add to Cart vs. secondary actions. We name the specific section by its role on the page ("hero block", "variant selector", "shipping note"), so your handoff to a developer or freelancer is unambiguous. The audit knows it's grading a Shopify page, not a generic web page.

COMMON SHOPIFY LEAKS

Where Shopify product pages quietly underconvert

01

Variant picker leaves buyers guessing

Color swatches without labels, size dropdowns without a size guide, out-of-stock variants greyed-out without explanation. Buyers stall when they can't predict what selecting a variant will do. We flag whether your variant UX answers the buyer's hesitation in one click.

02

The hero is the theme default, not a sales asset

Shopify themes ship with a square pack-shot crop that works for white backgrounds. If your product needs scale, context, or a hand model to be understood, the default crop loses the sale. We flag whether your hero shows the product in the buyer's life, not on a studio cyc.

03

Reviews widget below the fold and unfiltered

If your review widget appears after the description and shows raw star averages without filtering for verified buyers or specific concerns ("runs small", "shipping took two weeks"), it loses the trust battle. We grade where your reviews live and what they signal at a glance.

04

Sticky Add-to-Cart on mobile is broken or absent

Mobile Shopify buyers scroll past the fold quickly. If the Add to Cart button isn't sticky, persistent, or visually weighted enough on small screens, you're trading conversion for a scroll session. We check the mobile rendering specifically.

INSIDE THE $49 AUDIT

A Shopify-specific audit your developer can ship

Free preview returns three priority fixes referencing your actual page sections. The $49 audit unlocks the full 12-dimension breakdown — hero, variants, price, trust strip, reviews, urgency, mobile flow, navigation, CTA hierarchy — plus a hero rewrite (current vs. proposed copy), three Add-to-Cart variants ranked by expected lift, and the top five fixes with literal replacement copy and Liquid-section guidance where relevant. PDF included. Works across Dawn, Impact, Sense, custom Liquid themes, and headless Shopify Hydrogen storefronts. Landing Doctor flags theme-specific issues by section name.

SHOPIFY-SPECIFIC ANSWERS

Shopify audit FAQ

Does the audit understand Liquid sections by name?

We reference page elements by their on-page role — hero block, variant selector, price line, review widget, sticky CTA — which maps cleanly to Liquid section names in Dawn, Impact, Sense, and most custom themes. Your developer reads the audit and knows which section file to open. We don't read your theme code, only the rendered page, but the comments are precise enough that the handoff to Liquid is unambiguous.

Will it work for headless Shopify (Hydrogen, Next.js storefronts)?

Yes — as long as the rendered page returns visible HTML to a fetch (most Hydrogen and Next.js storefronts do via SSR or pre-render). The audit grades the customer-facing page, not the framework. If your storefront is purely client-rendered with no SSR, we'll see under 200 characters of text and abort cleanly without charging — that's rare for production storefronts.

Can I audit a collection page or just product pages?

Both. Product pages get graded on hero, variants, price, trust, reviews, and Add-to-Cart hierarchy. Collection pages get graded on filter UX, sort logic, grid scannability, badge consistency, and the path to product. The audit auto-detects which template you submitted and applies the right pattern. Many Shopify stores run the audit on their bestselling product first, then on their hero collection.

Will this conflict with my existing CRO app (e.g., ReConvert, Bold)?

No — the audit reads what your buyer sees, regardless of which apps inject it. If you're running upsell apps, A/B-test apps, or review widgets, we grade the rendered output. If an app is hurting conversion (e.g., a heavy popup that delays first paint), we'll flag the symptom — slow above-fold render or visual clutter — without naming the app. You decide which app to remove.
